The challenge
Teams of four will compete throughout the afternoon for the fastest collective time over the race distance. The top teams will be taken through to the finals at 5pm, and go head to head to compete for the glory of the top prize and of course - bragging rights.
At the same time, individuals can see how quickly they can go it alone, and compete to log the fastest time over the competition distance. There will be prizes awarded for both the men’s and women’s leagues.
The charity
All money raised will go to our charity partner The Bike Project. The Bike Project helps refugees and asylum-seekers access food banks, healthcare and education by providing them with a bike and training.
Did you know that refugees are given just £37 a week to live on? When a weekly bus pass in London costs £21, travelling to a Doctors appointment, or the foodbank on public transport is not feasible on such a tight budget. A bike is a cheap and easy form of transport, and just £100 can provide a refugee with a refurbished bike, protective gear and road safety training. Every team signed up to the challenge will be helping to provide a refugee with a much-needed form of transport.
And to help provide even more bikes, we’re suggesting that every person aims to raise a further £100 in sponsorship. All registration fees, sponsorship and donations will be match-funded by BlackRock, doubling the impact of your support.
Collectively BlackRock are aiming to raise and donate enough to provide 160 refugees with a bike and training. So do the best you can, and help us hit our target of £16,000!
